PM Boot Camp: Project Intake through Initiation

New Hampshire Public Broadcasting - Room 223
Wed., November 8, 2017, 8:30am-12:30pm

Led by: George Cookman

This session has passed.

This class can be taken as a refresher for the Introductory PM Boot Camp full-day class, but there is no prerequisite.

This is a 1/2-day session. We will start with developing a Project Proposal. Although the Project Manager Role does not include writing proposals - the proposal should be approved and funded before the PM is assigned - it is important to understand the elements that are necessary for a solid proposal. We will proceed through to building a plan outline that could then be put into a project management tool, e.g., TeamDynamix, for execution.

We will fall just short of using TeamDynamix for this exercise. Separate TeamDynamix training courses are offered for Project Managers on the IT Training calendar. It is suggested that you take this course before taking the the TeamDynamix PM training class.

This course emphasizes hands-on group participation in the development of key project management artifacts. These include the stakeholder assessment, Initial Charter, and a detailed work breakdown structure.  The final activity will be to transpose our WBS into an outline for a project schedule.
